This DAMN THING IS CURSED!!!

Just lost everything again! Dammit! I am starting to believe that this project is cursed! I have been trying to finish it for the last 6 MONTHS!!! Every time I come close, something gets in the way! I don't understand it and I don't know if I want to understand it. I just want to finish it!

Note: DO NOT PURCHASE MAXTOR ONETOUCH II 300GB HARD DRIVES. THEY ARE JUNK. I JUST PURCHASED ONE AND IT DIDN'T EVEN LAST A FULL WEEK BEFORE IT CRASHED ON ME...WITH THE ENTIRE RULE OF STEEL PROJECT ON IT.

And since I have just purchased a new 17" Powerbook, I was in the process of moving all of my backup files over from the hard drive...and it crashed!

I can't wait to get started again! This will be the fourth time I will be starting on this edit from scratch! It should be one hell of a video by the time I'm done with it. Please don't give up on me...

I just want a giant teddy bear right now that I can rip apart!

ROUGH CUT DONE

So the first rough cut of the "Rule of Steel" video is done as of yesterday (08/03/05). I sent off a copy of the rough cut to the DivX MVWire Music Video Contest. I probably shouldn't have mailed it in, but I did and there's nothin I can do about it now. It still needs a lot of work and I feel like a lot of it was slammed together and needs a little more thought put into it's creation.

Hans, John and Ian came over to check it out yesterday and loved it. They had some really solid suggestions for me, which will help a great deal when I get back on it. It really helps having honest criticism...sometimes people think they are being mean or hurtful when they speak openly about a person's art, but you are really only hurting them if you don't tell them the truth about what your are thinking/feeling.

I appreciate all honesty. I am debating putting up a copy of the rough cut to get some reaction from people online to help make this thing rock. If you have some input on this please let me know...I'm gonna try and set up a poll so it's relatively painless for you to vote.

Onward and upward captain...

Getting down to the wire...

5 days to go...I went to open the FCP Project file of the KHRINJ "Rule of Steel" last night and discovered that it was "Unable to open project file." Nice. Well, I lost a good portion of the last two weeks' worth of work. I didn't even realize that I had "Autosave" turned off in the preferences and did not have a very recent backup copy. Luckily I had made a backup copy a couple of weeks ago...save early save often...and turn on AUTOSAVE dumbass! Anyway, I was able to recover some of the most recently rendered files by simply opening the Render Files folder and opening each rendere FCP clip individually and importing them into a new timeline in a new project.

Whew...

I cancelled the shoot for today with the KHRINJ guys due to 1. no power 2. rain 3. lack of preperation due to an ENORMOUS stumbling block in the editing of "Rule of Steel"...so it has been rescheduled to August 7, 2005.

I am not usually one to cancel a shoot...but under certain circumstances you have to cut your losses (and we actually didn't lose anything this time). Gotta know when to hold em...and definitely KNOW WHEN TO FOLD EM.

Gotta love Willy...

I have finally received my inspiration for "Rule of Steel" and am heavily into editing it. It's becoming addictive and enlightening and...FUN? Is that a concept? fUn?

I know I have a lot of work to make up right now but am totally prepared for it. I can't wait to see what comes out of it.

So it's settled...

In a meeting this last Sunday, July 16, the band and I decided to split the baby into two videos and double our efforts. The first video, "Rule of Steel" will continue as planned and will be ready for the DivX? MVWire Music Video Contest...DEADLINE: AUGUST 3, 2005! You can read some more about the contest on www.mvwire.com.

The other video we will be doing will include a lot of the footage we have already shot, including the wild stuff of the guys in the chamber with the wires hooked to them (refer to first photos published on this page below). We will be shooting the performance piece for this video on July 30/31 at an undisclosed location and will release the title of the song for this video at a later date.

Please stay tuned...

OH YEAH!...Don't miss KHRINJ tonight at Charlie's in Paia. It's their first time playing this venue and they're sure to rock the house! 10pm/$5 cover. See ya there!

I've got footage coming out of my freakin ears ova here...

Ok...ok...ok...I know...it's been a while but I've been editing and editing and editing and can't seem to find the center of this video anywhere. I have come to the conclusion that I have too much footage (good footage) to cut into just a 3:00 minute video so I am going to cut the Rule of Steel video with all of the footage from the Mill, the welding footage I got of Hans and just get it done. I will be using the other footage (the stuff of the guys in the chamber for another video)...hence, we will be shooting more footage in the weeks to come.

Good news, though! KHRINJ has been working on some new material and from what I hear, it's HOT! So stay tuned and I will let you all know as soon as the Rule of Steel video is ready for your eyes and minds...

Tanx eh!
